Programs

Day 01 CATANIA

Arrive at Catania Airport, meet your guide and drive to Murgo vineyard to reach your agriturismo.After lunch at the vineyard, you can enjoy a tour of the vineyard and then visit the craters of Monte Silvestri which is nearby. There are 2 parts to this walk, the more energetic group will take both parts. The coffee-drinkers do the easy part I and then can then sip coffee at the restaurant waiting for the part 2 (40 minutes) walkers. Return to Agriturismo for rest and dinner .

DAY 02 CATANIA – ACIREALE – FIUMEFREDDO – CALATALBIANO -TAORMINA

Depart after breakfast you will leave Catania to reach Taormina.

Driving along this coastal area of ancient you will stop to the hillside town Acireale where you will visit the magnificent Gothic Cathedral and you will proceed to the fishing village of Aci Trezza, and tiny Aci Castello, noted for its Norman castle built of black lava. You will continue to Fiumefreddo Sicilia where your personal guide show you the Slave’s Castle, the real Sicilian house of Godfather III. The importance of the Castle is not linked only to the movie, but it is one of the most suggestive castle in Sicily and it is also heritage of the rural Sicilian baroque period.

Before reaching Taormina you will stop in Calatabiano and you will visit the Castle of S. Mark, where are realized some parts of the movies.

Overnight in Taormina.

Optional: walk up to Castelmola. There are two walking routes to Castelmola . You shall take the more scenic route up and return by coach and back down to town and meet up with others who want to stay in town..

DAY 03 TAORMINA

Taormina is an elegant town situated at the foot of Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. This morning, we will reach a height of 1800 meters, where we will enjoy a fantastic panorama of the Ionic Sea if the weather conditions permitting. (**Alternatively you may get on a helicopter and have a 30 min aerial view of this stunning volcano.)

After lunch, have a tour around Taormina. From the Greek theatre, you will be able to see a blend of architectural influences of old Greek, Roman and Etna. Look out over the magnificent Bay of Naxos and Mt Etna before visiting the Palazzo Corvaja. This palace, built in the 14th and 15th centuries, represents several different architectural styles: Arab, Gothic and Norman. The main street Corso Umberto is an excellent place to visit interesting boutiques.

DAY 04 TAORMINA- FORZA D’AGRò-SAVOCA-MOTTA CAMASTRA-TAORMINA

Today you will continue your visit among towns where Godfather was filmed: Forza d’Agrò with the beautiful church of S. Annunziata and Savoca, one of the most beautiful place located in Italy. In the movie, Michael met Apollonia at the bar Vitelli in Piazza Fossia and here he promised to marry her. The marriage was celebrated in the San Nicolò Church.

In the afternoon you will visit Motta Camastra, a little village of 900 inhabitants.

DAY 05 TAORMINA- PIAZZA ARMERINA-AGRIGENTO

This morning you will check out of hotel in Taormina for the amazing Roman villa del Casale at Piazza Armerina with its wonderful mosaic floors. Then, you will visit the vineyards of Feudo Principi di Butera, where you will have a tasting and a light lunch.

In the afternoon you will be transferred to your hotel in Agrigento where you will stay 2 nights on bed & breakfast.You will have dinner in a great seafood restaurant and spent overnight in Agrigento in a hotel overlooking the temples.

DAY 06 AGRIGENTO

Today you will explore Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site – Temple of Hercules, Zeus, Hera, Concordia, Dioscuri and more.

Overnight in Agrigento.

DAY 07 AGRIGENTO/ MONREALE/PALERMO

This morning you leave Agrigento to reach Palermo by your personal car. On the way you will stop in Monreale to admire the magnificent cathedral there. Lunch in Monreale.

In the evening you will reach your hotel in Palermo.

DAY 08 PALERMO/ CEFALU/PALERMO

This morning you will drive 1 hours and 30 minutes to reach Cefalu, a former fishing village with a beautiful setting. Here, visit the Romanesque Cathedral and the museum that houses Antonello’s masterpiece of “Portrait of an Unknown Man”.Free time at your leisure.

DAY 09 PALERMO

Today you will enjoy guided tour of Palermo, the regional and provincial capital of Sicily. It is one of the World’s most splendid cities with its unique and charming Afro, Arab and Italian blend of architecture. Start the visit from the old part of the city with the Royal Palace, the Palatine Chapel and the Cathedral.

DAY 10 DEPARTURE

Today you will be transferred to Palermo airport to catch you flight back home
